Our Team

Tracy Teckla Wanyama - Founder
Tracy is passionate about giving underprivileged children a chance to a normal life. She believes that children born into poverty, have little control over their wellbeing, health and education. It’s just a small percent of these children who manage to escape their circumstances and become economically successful adults, the majority don’t. It is therefore very unfortunate that in the present world, there are still millions of children whose probability of success is lowered simply by virtue of being born into certain circumstances.
Through HHU and its generous supporters, Tracy is working towards changing one life at a time, and hoping that one day, the world will become a better place for all. Tracy was born and raised in Eastern Uganda and immigrated to Canada in 2001. She is a Physician Assistant by profession, and outside her usual work, she spends most of her extra time spreading awareness, planning and coordinating fundraising activities for HHU.

Margaret Wanyama – Director of Operations
Margie was born in Uganda and served as a Children Development Officer with a Compassion International-assisted project for nearly 20 years before changing jobs in 2022. Her work was centered in rural areas, where she witnessed firsthand the harsh realities of poverty. Many children wore skimpy, torn clothes, walked barefoot, and slept on old papyrus mats with little to no blankets to shield them from the cold nights. These conditions often led to poverty-related ailments that further burdened their young lives.
As a devout Christian, Margie finds inspiration in Proverbs 19:17: “He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, and He will pay back what he has given.” This verse fuels her unwavering dedication to helping those in need. Margie always dreamed of providing children with opportunities to rise above their circumstances, and Helping Hands Uganda gave her the chance to turn that dream into action. She considers it a privilege to be part of an organization committed to changing lives for the better.
Margie is the backbone of Helping Hands Uganda. Without her, many of the charity's accomplishments would not be possible. She connects personally with the sponsored children and their families, sharing in their joys and sorrows. Margie’s compassionate presence ensures that Helping Hands Uganda remains a beacon of hope and love for those it serves.

BRIAN GOLD WANYAMA
Spirituality, is an integral aspect of Helping Hands Uganda. Therefore, it was found necessary to engage someone who has a good gospel and evangelistic experience. The main role of gospel artistes is to preach godliness; win souls and teach tenets of Christianity by living an exemplary life worthy of emulation by unbeliever beneficiary community. Brian has therefore been assigned this task, working directly under the Program Coordinator. Brian was also assigned the task of identifying, defining and developing, funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to different funding organizations. As a Grants Officer, Brian was hired to do the necessary research, design and writing of grant proposals on behalf of Helping Hands Uganda. This was deemed necessary to play the crucial role in helping our organization to obtain funding to advance our programs.
